CNC Design goes Renewable

CNC Design now has a focus on Drive Solutions for the Energy Sector. This includes generation of electricity from re-newable sources such as wind, tidal and solar.

One of our partners is BioPower. They are developing tidal and wave power generators and we are supplying the electrical generation equipment and integration. Late in 2009 the first 250 Kw tidal generator site will be positioned off Flinders Island, near Tasmania. A second 250 Kw wave power generator will be located off King Island in 2010.

Our energy generation solutions are based on the Siemens SINAMICS S120 re-generative drive systems together with  SIMOTION motion and logic controllers. These offer significant advantages in the quality of the power produced, controllable power factor and high reliability. Modular sizes are available from 16 Kw to 4.5 Mw.  

We are active with a number of projects in Wind and Solar Power. Recently we have committed to developing an in house capability for simulation of various types of power generation methods to both demonstrate these to customers and for development and testing new solutions. This will include a major installation for a Sinamics S120 test bench in our Melbourne Office.

We have been asked to develop a concept for a 20 Mw wind turbine test unit so you can see we have big plans for re-newable energy.
