Mechatronics Innovation

In 2009, CNC Design has launched a “Mechatronics Innovation”  initiative. This aims to provide local machine builders with new ideas on how mechatronic technologies can be used to develop new machine concepts.

To fulfil the ever increasing productivity demands on their machines, machine builders are focusing more and more on integration of mechanical and electrical components. We are seeing greater focus on linear motors, torque motors and the performance of the machine as whole.

Like our new Siemens linear motor 1FN6 with magnet-free secondary section track — an “Electrical Gear Rack” . The innovative motor concept has all the advantages of direct drives such as high force density, high dynamic response, good control features and outstanding precision. But as the secondary section track no longer has a permanent magnet, this motor is very inexpensive, especially in the case of long traversing distances. The motor is therefore primarily used for applications in handling and linked axes or in highly dynamic and highly precise feeding axes of water-jet and laser-beam cutting machines. It is therefore an alternative to classic drive solutions with mechanical transmission elements such as gear racks or ball screws .

Our focus is on the complete design process, including the ability to fully simulate the machine, running its actual controller software. In these economic times, manufacturing engineers will have to develop faster, more accurate machines to distinguish them from their competitors. CNC Design will help the local machine builder to meet these challenges.
