Gearbox full load testing at Hofmann Engineering

The new test stand has been installed to test gearboxes used in Wind Turbines, Mining Trucks and Large Mining Equipment.

The gearboxes are electronically “torqued” against each other using Siemens technology in a back-to-back arrangement, the test rig is capable of full load testing to 2000 kW.

Capacity:

• 2,000 kW power (1000kW as shown)
• 5,500 Nm input torque
• 2,700 rpm input speed
• 12m x 8m floor plate allowing any gearbox configuration
• Customisable Load Test sequence

The GearTest solution from CNC Design allows Hofmann Enginnering to check:

• Loaded contact
• Noise and vibration levels
• Cooling capacity
• Bearing temperatures
• Gear mesh temperatures
• Oil temperature
• Oil Cleanliness (ISO4006-1999)
• Functionality of pumps, fans, filters and other lubrication system components

With the proven modular solution from CNC Design, Hofmann Engineering is abe to increase the test capacity in future up to 4MW and can flexible adjust the Load Test sequence to suite their requirements.
