Renewable Energy Generator - bioWAVE and bioSTREAM
CNC Design is well underway with the first of many projects to produce renewable energy together with BioPower in Sydney.
The project involves conversion of energy from wave or tidal power to electricity for the national grid. Our solution is based on a large AC motor driving the Siemens SINAMICS S120 fully re-generative drive system with Active Front End. This has the advantages of extremely low harmonic distortion in the power returned to the main grid and controllable power factor and power setpoint. SINAMICS S120 drives are available in low voltage versions (400-690 Volt) making them suitable for local connection to the mains or via transformer coupling to higher voltages. They are also available in both air cooled and liquid cooled versions. Our current project is for two 250kW generators to be supplied to BioPower Systems for their bioSTREAM tidal energy system and bioWAVE ocean wave energy generators. They are newly designed generator systems that will be located in the ocean off the shores of Tasmania for trials in 2010. These units will be used to supplement existing supplies and will have the facility to deliver from 50kW up to 250kW, depending on the demand required. |
