100 Tonne Rotary Table

CNC Design has developed and manufactured a large rotary table for positioning and machining of large parts used in Power Turbines. This is being installed in the PT Siemens Indonesia Turbine manufacturing plant in Cilegon, Indonesia.

The rotary table will mount in front of a large CNC horizontal boring machine. We are also integrating the table drive system with the existing Siemens 840D CNC system so that it will be a fully programmable positioning and machining axis.

Parts up to 100 tonnes in mass and 6m in height can be machined with high accuracy and repeatability.

The rotary table uses very high performance slewing bearings and is driven by two direct drive Siemens torque motors which are preloaded to ensure zero backlash. A direct measuring system on the outer diameter of the slewing bearing with a measuring resolution of 0.00001 deg enables a positioning accuracy of 2 arc min.

PT Siemens Indonesia wanted the table to be portable so that it could be mounted on the floorplate of the existing (and potentially other) Horizontal Borer when required and removed and disconnected when not required. The table is a less than 1m in height and can be picked up with an overhead crane. Lubrication and torque motor cooling units are integrated in the table itself and the servo drives  to control the torque motors are mounted in a new cabinet next to the orginal machine electrical cabinet.

The rotary table has a 600mm diameter center bore which means it can also be used in the Gear industry for hobbing or gashing of large gears and pinions. Our rotary table is available in diameters from 3 m to 6 m and can be customised to suit your needs.
